What is Stalking?

Stalking is any behaviour towards you that is repeated, persistent and unwanted. This may include:

  • Being followed
  • Being approached
  • Being kept under surveillance
  • Having your property damaged or interfered with
  • Receiving SMS text messages, emails or having offensive material about you published by electronic means
  • Being sent offensive material
  • Being contacted by any means of communication
  • Any conduct or communication that you find intimidating or harassing

Note: Stalking must be more than one incident. Some states require 2 or more offences. If only one incident has occurred then the correct offence is Intimidation.

You can be stalked by someone you know, or by a stranger.
